Sports Betting Wager Part 1 Introduction

Sports Betting Wagers should be known by everyone, as well as all the other tricks of the trade. In general there are six well-known sports betting wagers,  but only two of them are put most of all. Because a great part of bookmakers offer the very two bets to gamblers, the rest will be described in the article sports betting wager Part 2. So what are these popular sports betting wagers? The first is known as a money line or straight-up and the other is called spread betting. The difference between them is quite clear, if you know how they work and when the former or the latter should be used to bring a huger revenue to a bettor.

A money line sports betting wager deals with a win or a lose. So if you believe that it will be Manchesters United and not  Inter who will win this match you are heading for one or another bookmaking office and put there a wager. You put a bet of $100 on MU win. Actually football was chosen for a particular reason: there should be two teams or two individulas, so it can be football, box, hockey, etc. How much will you receive if the team does really win? As a rule a sports betting wager will be doubled. This means that you are to get $200. But don't forget about  a vigorish that is a sort of commission that you will pay. an average vigorish amounts to 4.6%. So when speaking about your $100 bet and MU win, you will get $200 minus $5 fee that will go to a bookmaker's pocket.  But there are as well such a notion as a favorite-underdog ratio. It explains why sometimes one team that has higher chances  than another when they are playing in the same match.  As a matter of fact if you put on a favorite you will receive a higher winning. No wonder, huh?

The second sports betting wager  is known as a spread betting kind. If you make this bet then you are to point out not just what team will win, but what will be a score with which one team will win or the other will lose. Spread betting is applied to basketball and american football mainly. There are four outcomes of a match: one team can win or the other, the one can lose by a certain amount of scores or the other can win. There can be even a tie. To avoid pushes bookmakers offer a half-point bet. In case there is  a push, then all the sports betting wagers will be returned to bettors.
